CS2 Model Overview

Our CS2 model predicts match outcomes for professional Counter-Strike 2 competitions. Key principles include:

  • 1.Team Rating System - We maintain Elo-style ratings for teams that update based on match results, opponent strength, and margin of victory.
  • 2.Tournament Context - S-Tier and A-Tier tournaments receive different weighting. We account for the competitive intensity and stakes of each event.
  • 3.Match Format - Best-of-1, Best-of-3, and Best-of-5 formats have different variance profiles. Our model adjusts win probabilities accordingly.
  • 4.LAN vs. Online - LAN events often produce different results than online matches. We factor venue type into our predictions.

Methodology

Tournament Tiers

Matches are categorized by tournament importance. S-Tier events (Majors, top-tier LANs) receive highest weight, while lower-tier online qualifiers are weighted appropriately.

Regional Adjustments

Cross-regional matchups are analyzed with appropriate adjustments. Teams from different regions may have limited head-to-head history, which is factored into confidence levels.

Performance Tracking

All picks are tracked with locked odds at time of release. We measure closing line value (CLV) and actual profit/loss to continuously validate model accuracy.

Data Quality

Each pick includes a data quality score indicating the confidence level based on available team history, recent form, and roster stability.
